The world inside my fish tank
Glad you're here. This is a fun page dedicated to my fish tank. Why? I love water and that means I love aquariums! I figured I would add to the noise online by contributing information and experience from mine. Note: the images featured above are NOT my fish tank. I have a 90 gallon corner fish tank. It was a hand-me-down from a friend who no longer needed it. You can find out how it started here. I plan to chronicle my adventure of "starting over" when I moved in to a new house. Note: While I photographed all of the images you see (unless otherwise noted), these are NOT pictures of my own aquarium.
I'm also planning to add more noise to the discussion of fish tank science. I am a scientist with degrees in biology. In my day job, I'm an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Department of Oceanography at Texas A&M University. My goal here is take a look at scientific papers that have been published about aquariums, fishkeeping, aquatic plants, etc. and attempt to provide an interpretation of the results (i.e. for the lay person). I am by no means an expert on fish, or plants, or fishkeeping. My areas of expertise are more in the realms of genetics, computer modeling, and ecology of dinoflagellates. But I think that will make this endeavor more fun!
Take a look around and let me know if you have any questions!
